The weekend began early on Friday afternoon with the Garland group winging their way to the new Denver airport, there to be met by members of the Denver group.  The two groups exchanged warm greetings and proceeded to several guest homes to prepare for the evening's event.

Denver planned the Patenbitten to go along with their 41st Grundungsfest.  Beginning at 7:00 PM in the T.E.V. Edelweiss Vereinhaus, with a traditional Heimatabend.  With the end of the musical portion of the evening, the Denver group called the Garland group to gather at the center of the dance floor. The six members took their places and prepared to plead, beg, cajole and drink the daunting Denver delegation into submission.  What follows is the Perfectly Penned Poetic Prose Perpetrated by the Parched Prairie Pranksters.

Denver asks: Welcome trachten friends from Texas; we wonder what urgent thing brings you to us?  Your journey North brings six of you here, the request of a favor’s at hand, this is clear.  You know, of course there will be no gain, unless you’re prepared to suffer some pain.  So on your knees; you came a long way, we’re anxious to hear just what you have to say. 

Denver translates: Euch trachtenfreunden aus Texas ein herzliches wilkommen was war so wichtig, um diesen langen weg zu kommen?  Gleich sechs von euch machten sich auf die reise wir glauben ihr bittet um was, auf bayrische weise.  Natürlich wißt ihr, und das ist kein scherz bitten un betteln ist verbunden mit schmerz.  nun auf die knie, ihr kommt von weit her wir sind ganz gespannt was man von euch jetzt hört. 

Garland states: Wir haben eine neue Fahne so Perfekt und fein, d'rum Pilgern wir Plattler von der Texas Prairie zu Colorados Prächtigen Bergen um euch zu sagen: bitte seid unser Patenverein. 

Garland translates: We have just Purchased a flag so Pristine and Proper. Our People have made this Pilgrimage from the Parched Prairies of Texas to the Panoramic Peaks of Colorado to Persuade you to be our Patenverein. We Pictured the Prominence of your Preisplattling Performance and Proposed to Plead for your Patronage. 

Denver delivers the Kniascheitl properly adorned with the club names, date and a bouquet of Bluebonnet’s and Edelweiss. 

Garland continues: As we Pose on this Plank, we Properly endure the Pain on our Patella's with Pride even though a Pillow or a Pair of Pants would be Paradise. No Profanity or Pouting, we will Prevail and Prove our Persistence. As our knees Protest and turn Purple we Patiently await a Positive Proclamation. Can we be your Patenkind? 

Garland pleads some more: Please do not Protract our Prison in this Precarious Position. Ponder our Presents: these Texas longhorns and Pitchers of Pilsner. Let's Proceed to a Potluck of Peppered Pork and a Plate of Potato Pancakes with a Pie or Possibly some Pudding. 

Denver continues: Plattlers once Frohsinn, from the Parched Prairies by your own admission.  This stein of beer you must finish to complete your mission. 

Denver delivers a 3 liter stein full of beer and hands it to the Garland Vorstand, he drinks heartliy and passes it to the Vorplatter who downs his share and hands it off to the delegation: 

Denver continues: Friendship is all that is really required; There’s just one more thing now, before you get tired.  A stein full of beer was placed in your hands, which you must finish before we meet your demands. 

Garland continues to drink passing the stein between the members.  When finished they continue. We have Polished off the Pilsner. Pardon our Persistence, but without Pause, as we Present this Priceless Poem Printed on Pristine Parchment, we Passionately Petition your President to Pronounce your Position. 

Denver finally concedes: We’ve received your bitten with no reservation, and now offer this answer without hesitation. It is indeed a great honor that you have asked T.E.V. Edelweiss Denver to stand for you as Patenverein, and from time to time assist and guide you in your endeavor to uphold “Sitt und Tracht” for now and forever.  By unanimous decision we’ve committed to print to adopt Alpine Dancers G.T.E.V. Edelweiss as our Patenkind.  So friends, to show that we are sincere, we offer you this stiefel of beer.  We ask you to drink and stand up please; no friends of ours should be on their knees. 

Denver translates: Wir hörten euer bitten unvoreingenommen und antworten euch, der zeitpunkt ist gekommen est ist unserem verein eine große ehre, wir sagen es laut, so dass es jeder höre T.E.V. Edelweiss Denver will als euer Petenverein fungieren und euch von zeit zu zeit in die richtige richtung führen um allzeit “Sitt un Tracht” zu erhalen, so wie wir gesinnt wir adoptieren Apline Dancers G.T.E.V. Edelweiss als unser Patenkind.  Nun freunde, der augenblick ist endlich hier wir bieten euch an diesen Stiefel voll bier jetzt steht auf und trinkt… auch wenn es so schien unsere freunde brauchen nicht vor uns zu knien.  Die tortur ist vorbei, ihr habt geleistet euren beitrag “Ein Prosit der Gemutlichkeit” an diesem Patenbitten Freitag. 

Denver presents all the participants with a stein of beer. Both groups toast. Ein Prosit, ein Prosit der Gemutlichkeit, ein prosit, ein Prosit der Gemutlichkeit, eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht, neun, jetzt sauft der Doble "D" Trachtenverein 

Garland accepts: Thank you for accepting us as your Patenkind. Let’s Proceed to Pretzels, Pork, Potatoes and Pilsner!!!!
